Britney Spears Breaks Silence About Divorce, Saying, “I Couldn’t Take The Pain Anymore”
Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, recently separated after being married for just fourteen months, with her husband already filing for divorce. After their split, this is the first time that the singer broke the silence on Instagram with a candid post.
The post said, “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together,” she wrote, adding that six years is a long time to be with someone, so she is “a little shocked.” She also mentioned in the post that “she is not here to explain why because it is honestly nobody’s business. But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore, honestly. In some sort of telepathic way, I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends, and I thank you.”
She said that she had been “playing it strong” for a while now, but even though her Instagram looks perfect, the reality is quite the opposite. She said, “I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason, I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses. If I wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors. But that’s when I needed family the most.”
She put an end to the post by saying that everyone deserves to be loved unconditionally. She further concluded, saying, “So I will be as strong as I can and do my best. And I’m actually doing pretty damn good. Anyways have a good day, and don’t forget to smile.”
What did Asghari have to say?
The actor said they had “irreconcilable differences” in the divorce petition that he filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He asked for spousal support and also asked the singer to pay for the legal proceedings, according to the divorce documents.
Asghari’s Instagram post said, “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous, so I will just ask for everyone, including media, to be kind and thoughtful.”
The couple first met in 2016 while shooting for her song Slumber Party. A source told PEOPLE, “She is in great spirits despite everything going on. Obviously it’s never an easy thing to go through, but she’s remaining positive and focusing on the future.”
