2022 Cannes Film Festival has just started, and Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has already come into the limelight as she walked the red carpet during the opening ceremony of the film festival.
Deepika, being a part of the Cannes Jury this year, wore a gold and black shimmery retro dress by legendary fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

A Retro Deepika
Deepika had her tresses tied in a messy bun and accessorized it using a golden hairband. She gave herself a dramatic look with nude lips, kohl-rimmed eyes, and contoured cheeks.
Deepika is overwhelmed as a member of the prestigious jury team, “While it does feel like a personal victory, it also feels like a slightly larger victory for the South Asian community… We can literally count on our fingertips the number of times anyone from India has been on the jury or has had the opportunity to represent the country at a platform such as this.” Over the years, the actress has been representing the beauty jumbo L’Oreal at the film festival.
This year, 6 films from India will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The list has:
- Rocketry – The Nambu Effect (Hindi, English, Tamil)
- Godavari (Marathi)
- Alpha Beta Gamma (Hindi)
- Dhuin (Maithili)
- Boomba Ride (Mishing)
- Niraye Thathakalulla Maram (Malayalam)
Also, apart from Deepika, the other jury members include actor-filmmaker Noomi Rapace, Rebecca Hall, Ladj Ly, Asghar Farhadi, Jeff Nichols, Joachim Trier, and Jasmine Trinca.
Wrapping It Up
Akshay Kumar earlier was about to walk the red carpet; although after being tested positive for COVID-19, he couldn’t. “Was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the India Pavilion at #Cannes2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid. Will rest it out. Loads of best wishes to you and your entire team, @ianuragthakur. I will really miss being there,” he tweeted.
