‘Parineeta’, ‘Mardaani’ Film Director Pradeep Sarkar Passes Away At 68; Bollywood Mourns
Famous Indian filmmaker and director Pradeep Sarkar who directed movies like Mardaani, Parineeta, and Helicopter Eela passes away at the age of 68. While he was rushed to the hospital after his potassium fell drastically, he breathed his last at 3:30 a.m. in the morning on 24 March.
Sarkar was on dialysis for some time. But his potassium fell drastically, which made his condition deteriorate. Even though he was rushed to the hospital, no amount of effort could save him.
Actor Nitu Chandra Srivastava confirmed the news of his demise. On her Twitter handle, she said,
“Very sad to know about our dearest director @pradeepsrkar dada. I started my career with him. He had an aesthetic talent to make his films look larger than life. From #Parineeta #lagachunrimeindaag to a no. Of movies. Dada, you will be missed. #RestInPeace (sic).”
The news of his death has left a void in the film industry and among his friends from the same. Artists have started to pour in their heartfelt messages. Actor Abhishek Bachchan wrote:
Ajay Devgn also took to social media to share his condolences to the family. While talking about ‘Dada’ as Pradeep was lovingly addressed as, the actor wrote:
Sarkar debuted in the year 2005 with his superhit movie Parineeta starring Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan. He has left a lasting legacy with films like Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Helicopter Eela, Lafangey Parindey, and Mardaani. The funeral arrangements have been made for the late director. They are to be held at 4:00 p.m. in Mumbai’s Santa Cruz Hindu Crematorium.
