Taylor Swift Did It Again; Back In Style With Album 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Is it possible for Swift to go out of style? Asking this question is stupidity. Taylor Swift released 1989 (Taylor’s version) this Friday. The re-release came nine years from when she first released her pop crossover album. This album also includes five unheard tracks that were originally for that project.
Similar to the original 1989 album, these tracks are also synthy and are mainly about lost love. For rerecording the songs, the dream team of Swift and Jack Antonoff, her constant collaborator, came together. This duo goes way back and has been working together since 2014, when she first released the album 1989.
The first song, “slut” talks about the time when Swift was publicly slut-shamed at the beginning of her career. But in the next song, “Blank Space,” she embraces a secret romance and shrugs off the judgmental eyes. This could be named as a sister song of the first one.
She sang in a bubbly tune, “But if I’m all dressed up, they might as well be lookin’ at us / If they call me a slut, you know it might be worth it for once / If I’m gonna be drunk, might as well be drunk in love.” Swift has a special gift. Everything she writes, she writes it from within.
She feels it deeply and has a way of communicating it through her lyrics that touch the soul of the audience. Pick any song, for instance, “Say Don’t Go,” This is also a classic break-up song and was co-written by Diane Warren, which talks about the mental state when a romantic relationship ends. This almost sounds like a cross between “All You Had To Do Was Stay” and “Clean.”
The other tracks, “Out Of The Woods” and “Is It Over Now,” are blended with “Labyrinth.” the track shows Swift collecting the pieces after she and her ex moved on.
