Taylor Swift won big at the 2023 VMAs on Tuesday night. She walked away from the show with nine Moon Person statuettes. However, she left without an expensive ring on her finger.
Being one of the evening’s best-dressed celebs, the Anti-Hero hitmaker walked the red carpet sporting more than $160,000 worth of bling. Her jewels included a vintage Van Cleef & Arpels ring from Joseph Saidian & Sons priced at $12,000.
In a recently surfaced footage from the broadcast, it looks like the center diamond detail got dislodged at some point during the function while Swift danced and cheered in the crowd.
In the now-viral clip, the highly expressive songstress was seen making a sad face while showing her seemingly damaged ring to a staffer. It sparked an all-hands-on desk search for the missing stones.
It is still unclear if the ring has ultimately been retrieved. Her left index finger was empty while she accepted the award for Video of the Year at the end of the show, as well as at the after-party later that night.
Reps from Joseph Saidian & Sons did not immediately respond to any requests for comments.
This is not the first time a major awards show witnessed valuable jewelry going missing. Ariana Grande had a fashion mishap with her $169,000 diamond choker going missing at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. The reps said at that time, “This is the first time a piece has broken while a celebrity was wearing it. Luckily, the piece didn’t slide off the stage! It was found on the side of the stage in a far corner, to everyone’s relief.”
