BTS Skips Billboards 2022: Awards And Deets Inside
The legendary Kpop artist BTS has decided to skip the Billboards Music Awards 2022. The world-famous Korean pop boy band has won the BBMAs for consecutive years since 2017. This year they decided to skip the BBMAs for their upcoming album Proof.
The K-Pop sensation, who has never missed their appearance on the show, decided not to attend the awards because of their ongoing schedules regarding their upcoming album Proof, which will be released on 10th June.
Even though the members of the band RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were in the city for their tour in Las Vegas, the band has announced that they will not attend any shows until they have released their album in June.
Their massive fandom, ARMY, has collectively shown support for their decision. This also comes as a result of Billboards accusing the fans of manipulating the charts and buying the albums in masses.
This happened after the release of their album Butter which ranked #1 for a very long time on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for almost ten weeks.
The ARMY has been furious at Billboard as their statement indirectly invalidated the hard-earned success of the boy band. Leader Kim Namjoon (RM) defended their loving fans by saying,
“...if there is a conversation inside Billboard about what being No. 1 should represent, then it’s up to them to change the rules and make streaming weigh more on the ranking. Slamming us or our fans for getting to No. 1 with physical sales and downloads, I don’t know if that’s right ... It just feels like we’re easy targets because we’re a boy band, a K-pop act, and we have this high fan loyalty."
This time, BTS was nominated for multiple categories, including Top Duo/Group, Rock Song, Top Selling Song, and more. They have won three awards: Top Selling Song, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Duo/Group. Their huge fanbase is more than happy with their win.
ARMY is more than happy with their wins. #BTS has already started to go trending worldwide on Twitter.
In their recent post on Twitter, BTS has thanked Billboards and #BTSARMY for their love and support.
There were many big artists who performed at the award show this year. Some of them are Ed Sheeran, Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kely, and others.
