Mads Mikkelsen Hints Johnny Depp Might Return To Fantastic Breast’s Role. He’s An “Amazing Actor.”
Mads Mikkelsen played Gellert Grindelwald in the latest installment of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, hints Depp might reprise his role in Fantastic Beasts. Johnny Depp, who played the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the second installment of the film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, might return.
Mads Mikkelsen, best known for his role in movies like Casino Royale and Hannibal, praised Depp, saying he’s an “amazing actor.” At Sarajevo Film Festival, Mikkelsen stated that playing the role of Grindelwald after Depp was “very intimidating.” And clarified that the reason for his departure was the libel case.
He states, “Obviously, well, now the course has changed. He won the suit, the court (case), so let’s see if he comes back. He might.” He further added, “I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor; I think he did a fantastic job.”
Mads Mikkelsen further added how he didn’t interact much with Depp’s Fans, saying, “His fans were very, very sweet, but they were also very stubborn.” He also added how they tried to make the role of Grindelwald different than that of Depp’s.
Though the return of Johnny Depp in Fantastic Beasts is yet to be confirmed, it is reported that Depp is going to direct a film 25 years after. Depp is set to direct the film Modigliani, a film about Amedeo Modigliani, an Italian artist. He is going to produce the film along with Al Pacino.
Depp stated, “The saga of Mr. Modigliani’s life is one that I’m incredibly honored, and truly humbled to bring to the screen.”
