Patrick Dempsey Is FINALLY People’s Sexiest Man Alive: We Are Glad!
It’s been nearly two decades since the hot AF Patrick Dempsey walked onto the small screen as Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd, the neurosurgeon on ABC’s celebrated show, Grey’s Anatomy.
His status as a heartthrob created such frenzy among the fans that he actually graced the pages of People and other publications several times over the past few years. Now, he is taking the crown of the Sexiest Man Alive.
The 57-year-old Maine native told People in this context, “I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly, my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”
The closest thing to his heart is the Dempsey Center, which he founded to honor his late mother in support of cancer patients as well as their loved ones. His other passions include being a good family man to his 57-year-old wife, Jillian. Jillian is a talented make-up artist known for founding her own independent, clean beauty collection. Dempsey has a 21-year-old daughter called Talula and 16-year-old twins Darby and Sullivan.
So what did he think when he found out the good news? He said, “I was utterly shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid! I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good.”
