Selena Gomez Prioritized Her Mental Health And Giving Her Social Media Accounts To Her Assistant

The 29-year old pop sensation Selena Gomez seems to be prioritizing her mental health a lot more than anything else. In an interview with Elle, she admits not knowing her Instagram password. And that was a shock to her fans. If she does not post those fantastic photos, then who does?

Why The Millennial Popstar Took Such A Tough Decision?

The former Disney star Gomez has always been a part of the limelight since she was a kid. Starting from being an actor in the Wizards of Waverly Place, she has always attracted fans with her superb acting and singing skills. So then, why did she choose to exit from social media?

Well, she did not precisely exit the social media channels. She admits that she offers the quotes and photos to her assistant to post them on her social media but does not post them herself. That’s because, for a long time, she did not feel like a person when too many people used to comment on her personal life on Instagram. She said:

‘I felt like an object

It felt gross for a long time.

When Gomez was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018, she knew that she had made the right choice by giving the passwords of all her social media accounts to her assistant. She knew it would be challenging to surrender her virtual life,  but she learned to be more present with herself with time.

How Is She Handling The Change?

According to Gomez, the moment she became the most followed person on Instagram, she became terrified. It proves how much uncomfortable she was dealing with the social media pressure. As a star, it was common for her to get appreciation and trolls on social media. And, we think her decision to take a break from all those was apt.

Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend has revealed her struggles with mental problems many times before also on social occasions. So, it was an inspiring move that Selena taught us to make. She said that:

‘I was almost two years down on someone’s diet, and then I realized, ‘I don’t even know this person!’

Well, that explains a lot, right? But, according to Selena, she gets all the information in the right way since she has given up on social media. She even gets calls from her friends and knows about their activities instead of checking their posts.

So, it looks like indeed a heavyweight was lifted from her chest, and our favorite pop star can heave a breath of relief now. Since she has remained unattached from social media, she has been able to focus on many other things, and that’s good for her.

Final Thoughts

We know mental health issue is serious, and despite the carelessness of too many people on this issue, we thank celebrities like Selena who has always been open about it. Her decision not to stay attached to social media channels proactively has proven to be good for her. So, we wish her all the best and pray she shines more and more in life.
