Taylor Swift Sings “Bigger Than The Whole Sky” At Sunday’s Eras Tour Concert in Brazil Following Death of A Fan

After postponing Saturday’s Eras Tour Concert in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, due to extreme temperatures, Taylor Swift resumed the show on Sunday night. The decision to postpone Saturday’s show was made a day after a fan of Taylor Swift suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away while attending the concert.

The 33-year-old Grammy singer surprised her fans on Sunday with her amazing yet emotional performance of the song “Bigger than the whole sky “ amid pouring rain. Fans believe that the song was Taylor’s way of paying tribute to Ana Clara Benevides, who died after suffering from cardiac arrest during Friday’s show.

Swift was visibly emotional while singing. She even choked slightly while delivering the lines, “Did some force take you because I didn’t pray?

Ana Clara Benevides, a 23-year-old psychology student, had a cardiac arrest and lost consciousness at the concert and was given emergency CPR for forty minutes on-site. While on the way to the hospital, she suffered a second cardiac arrest. Ana Benevides was pronounced dead shortly after she was taken to the nearby Salgado Filho Hospital.

Apparently, Benevides had been present at the venue, Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium, for a little over 8 hours, after which she had begun to feel sick. On Friday, the temperatures in Rio De Janeiro had gone up to the high 90s. On top of that, concert attendees were not allowed to carry water bottles inside the venue.

The news of Benevides’ death was disclosed to the Brazilian newspaper Folha De S. Paulo by her friend Thiago Fernandes. Shortly after, the concert organizer Time For Fun, confirmed Ana’s death via instagram post.

Swift also addressed Ana’s passing via a handwritten note on her instagram. She wrote, “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.

She continued, “There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young. I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.” Taylor Swift ended the note by saying, ‘I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.
