Akshaya Shetty: I am not so desperate that I will work for peanuts just because it’s a lead role

Actress Akshaya Shetty has been in popular shows like ‘Ishq Subhan’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ (one of the most high-rated serials). However, she has been missing from the small screen for a long time. 

As per the reports, when asked about the career, she says, 

“After my last show Ishq Subhan Allah went off the air in 2019, I was ready to do another one, but then the lockdown happened. That affected everyone.”

She accepted the web show and is happy to have gotten into the OTT space. When things seem to be better, Akshaya began to audition for TV shows. 

According to her, she has been chosen to play the role in a show but the deal fell through at the final moment. She shares, 

“I was selected to play the lead role in a show, but when I was about to sign the contract, I was shocked to see the remuneration they were offering. It was not what was promised to me. They asked me to work on a budget in which nobody could survive. So I am pretty clear about these things. I am not so desperate that I will work for peanuts just because it’s a lead role. If I am doing work, I want my remuneration to be as per market rates and conditions. So that’s the main reason why I have not taken up a television show till now.”

Now, the actress is busy with OTT. She is working on her resolutions and looking forward to a happy 2022 and says, 

“This year, I want to be fitter than ever before. At the start of 2022, I was unwell. Even though I have recovered now, I want to focus more on my health. I would also like to meditate every day and would recommend that to everyone.”
