‘One Life To Live’ Soap Star Andrea Evans Dies After Battling Breast Cancer

Unfortunately, One Life To Live soap star Andrea Evans passed away at the age of 66 on Sunday. Known for her roles as Rebecca Hotchkiss on Passions and Tina Lord on One Life To Live, Evans has been battling breast cancer for some time now. Casting director Don Carell first broke the news on Monday, 10th July, to The Hollywood Reporter. 

Evans first became popularity for her role of Tina on One Life to Live – a role that she ruled between 1978 and 1981 first, before resuming again in 1985 and going on till 1990. She also appeared in different daytime television shows like The Young And The Restless, Passions, and The Bold And The Beautiful. 

During her career, the soap star earned 2 Daytime Emmy nominations – 1 for the ‘Outstanding Performer in a New Approaches Drama Series’ in 2015 for her role of Vivian Price in DeVanity and 1 for ‘Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series’ in 1998 for One Life To Live. 

The Illinois native is survived by Stephen Rodriguez, her husband, who she got married to in 1998 as well as their 19-year-old daughter, Kylie. Before Rodriguez, Evans was married to Wayne Massey, her costar from One Live To Live, between 1981 and 1983. 

In 2009, Evans told CNN about her breast cancer, “I want to scream, ‘No! No! Don’t listen!’ If I hadn’t had that mammogram, I wouldn’t be here today” Evans was first diagnosed in 2002 with breast cancer when she was only 46. 

After Evans passed away, her costar from One Live To Live, Robin Strasser, who played the character of Dorian Lord, shared a heartwarming tribute about his former costar,

“This is sad to hear. My memories of #AndreaEvans are of a woman who was super smart & energized and a heat seeking missile. That’s a compliment. You knew when you worked with her, it’d be like going head to head with a champion. I admired her daring. I hate the disease that look her.”
