Gal Gadot Did Miss Israel For The Thrills, So She ‘Could Tell My Grandkids’
On her Hot Ones debut, Gal Gadot talked about everything– starting from performing her own stunts to becoming a pageant queen while munching on progressively spicy chicken wings.
Appearing on the season 21 finale of the fan-hit YouTube series, the actress – who is best known for her role as Wonder Woman in the titular franchise, talked to host Sean Evans in between the spicy bites.
The episode went up on Wednesday, where they both downed chicken wings lathered with the hottest sauces in order of progression.
Gadot was seen talking about her success in the Fast & Furious movies and her upcoming spy thriller, Heart of Stone, on Netflix.
Gal Gadot Talks To Sean Evans:
She revealed to Evans that she came prepared to attempt the heat of the spicy flavors. “Just so you know, I got some tips from friends. Try not to let it touch the lips.” she said while they began with the first wing.
Gadot, 38, was advised by Alia Bhatt, her fellow cast member, who apparently travels “around the world with like a bottle of spicy sauce.” Sharing what Alia advised, “She said, “Breathe like this,’ “ which Evans mimicked pretty well, prompting Gadot to remark, “Just like that!”
The Miss Israel 2004 winner also talked about her winning the beauty pageant. “When I went to Miss Israel in Israel, to begin with, I went for the experience, and so I could tell my grandkids that grandma — and then I won, and that was shocking.“
She continued between heated mouthfuls, “I never meant to win, I came for fun, and all of a sudden — it’s funny, you’re 18, you’re not taking things very seriously. The only part that I enjoyed doing was the opening sequence with the dance.“
Gadot did not imagine becoming an actress before participating in Miss Israel. She told Sunday Magazine, back in 2017, “I never thought about becoming an actress, and the opportunity kind of came my way. I started to become more curious about it, and then I fell in love with the profession — but it wasn’t like I was growing up dreaming of becoming an actress.”
Gadot even considered going back to law school to her family instead of the rejections Hollywood hurled at her. On being asked how close she was to quitting, she replied, “I was as close as it gets.”
Gadot focused on her mandatory two years of national military service after her brief beauty pageantry, becoming a combat fitness instructor. Her training helped with performing her own stunts in her films, especially in her role as Wonder Woman.
“I must say that when I was watching the second Wonder Woman, and it starts with the sequence of young Wonder Woman fighting — I got so emotional, it was like me being an 8-year-old girl watching an amazing girl doing amazing things. That was emotionally effective on me.”
Gadot has 3 daughters, Alma, 11, Maya, 6, and Daniella, 2, with her husband, real estate developer Jaron Varsano. She is set to star in the Netflix crime thriller Heart of Stone along with Jamie Dornan. She plays intelligence agent Rachel Stone, hired by a shady firm to protect a dangerous yet mysterious device.
Gadot concluded by saying, “I feel like from one movie to the next, the bar keeps going up and up. At the same time, I didn’t want this to be another Wonder Woman film so the whole idea was to create a film that would be grounded and the action would be raw and dynamic. When [my character] gets the hit, you feel the pain with her, so it’s a lot different. We had to work out and train and prep for months before even filming this film.”
Heart of Stone releases on Netflix on August 11.
