Treat William’s Crash Perp Has Been Charged With “grossly Negligent” Driving, Nearly Two Months After His Demise

Treat Williams passed away due to “severe trauma and blood loss” after a motorcycle accident in June. The Vermont State Police has shared a news release. 

The man who caused the crash has been identified as Ryan M. Koss. He has been charged with “grossly negligent” driving that resulted in his death. 

The press release intimates further that the police have met with Koss “at the Shaftsbury Barracks, where he was processed on the charge and released,” on Tuesday evening.

Koss was reportedly driving a Honda Element SUV when he had “turned into the path of Mr. Williams’ motorcycle” that resulted in the actor’s injuries and his consequent death. This incident happended on June 12. 

Koss will be appearing for arraignment at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Bennington, on September 25. 

This update coming about two months after William’s representative, Barry McPherson, confirmed his death, at 71. 

He said in his statement, “He was killed this afternoon. He was making a left or a right [and] a car cut him off, I’m just devastated. He was the nicest guy. He was so talented.” 

He continued, “He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s. He was really proud of his performance this year. He’s been so happy with the work that I got him. He’s had a balanced career.”

In the wake of his demise, William’s daughter, Ellie Williams has shared her thoughts on social media. On Father’s Day she wrote, observing the one moth anniversary of William, “I have been home with my family in Vermont for a month now, but it feels like just yesterday that I frantically got on a plane home after I got that phone call,It feels like he’s just away filming. However, I keep forgetting that he’s not coming home this time. Dad, I love you more than words could ever describe. You have given me the best life imaginable, and I could not have ever dreamed of having a better father.” 

Ellie described the relationship with her father as “once-in-a-lifetime love,” further explaining that she had “boundless love and complete admiration for her father.”
