The Opening Ceremony Of The Cannes Film Festival 2024: There Are Three Dresses That Marked The Ceremony
The 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival just kicked off on May 14th, with, of course, the infamous red carpet event that showcases the world’s biggest movie stars annually.
The celebrities braced the Croisetter when the Cannes Film Festival 2024 opened on May 14. Camille Cottin hosted the inaugural ceremony, and the event transformed seamlessly into the premiere of the new film “The Second Act,” by Quentin Dupieux.
The movie featured Lea Seydoux and Louis Garrel, who were seen on the red carpet along with their other cast members, including Vincent Lindon. Several other big personalities from the cinema appeared on the red carpet and attended the event at the opening ceremony.
Among them, Meryl Streep received an Honorary Palme d’Or because of her extraordinarily prolific career. She made a grand return on the stage at Cannes after decades of staying away from the event.
Other guests who returned from last year include Heidi Klum and Jane Fonda. Heidi Klum gave the crowd something to look at when she appeared in a red dress highlighting her silhouette, which is obviously a classic red carpet favorite.
Highlights From the Opening Ceremony
The star-struck event was filled with moments that captured the hearts of the people; however, here are some of the highlights that you cannot miss.
The jury of the Cannes Film Festival 2024, Pierfrancesco Favino, Omar Sy, Greta Gerwig, Eva Green, Lily Gladstone, Juan Antonio Bayona, Nadine Labaki, Ebru Ceylan, Hirokazu Kore-eda, appeared together for the opening ceremony and the premiere of the movie, “The Second Act.”
It is needless to say the “The Second Act” actors showed a united front and appeared together at the opening ceremony. Lea Seydoux attended the event in a Louis Vuitton dress for the opening ceremony as well as the premiere of the movie.
Heidi Klum wore a Saiid Kobeisy for the opening ceremony and walked the red carpet.
3 Dresses That Caught the Eye in the Opening Ceremony
Maria Grazia Chiuri created her masterpieces with excellent craftsmanship for Camille Cottin, the mistress of ceremonies, Juliette Binoche, and Maryl Streep.
All three dresses are signed by Dior, but they are not alike in any way. Three different colors were chosen for the three of them. For Meryl Streep, it was immaculate white; for Juliette Binoche, it was incandescent red. And for Camille Cottin, it was deep green.
All these creations were showcased at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, and they did not fail to impress. There was just one step in between the journey from a series dedicated to Christian Dior to an outfit by Maria Grazia Chiuru signed Dior.
The personalized Haute Couture dress with the wide neckline that revealed her shoulders was inspired by the FRAC dress from winter 1948. Meryl Streep received her honorary award in a white silk custom Dior Haute Couture dress.
It took almost 650 hours of work to finish the dress. Camille Cottin came in an elegant Dior dress taken from the Fall 2024 collection. The dreep green velvet dress came with a braided belt and was bare at the back.
