Rapper Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins Files For Divorce From Television Host Jeannie Mai
After a marriage of two and a half years, rapper Jeezy has filed for divorce from his wife, Television host Jeannie Mai, as confirmed by Billboard. On Thursday, 14th September, Jeezy filed the petition at the Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to break the news and reported that the couple even had a prenup in place. Plus, Jeezy is asking for joint custody of their one-year-old daughter, Monaco.
As per the document viewed by Billboard, the divorce filing states that the ex-couple is “currently living in a bona fide state of separation.” The rapper had also stated that his marriage to Jeannie is “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.”
The pair met sometime in 2018 when Mai was working on The Real, but they disclosed much information about their dating status to the world. The couple confirmed their relationship status in 2019, and the following year broke the news of their engagement. Due to the tight restrictions of COVID, they moved their wedding home to Georgia from France in 2021 and held an intimate ceremony.
In April 2021, Mai told Vogue, “We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate. But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife. So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends.”
At the beginning of 2022, Jeezy and Mai became parents. At the time, Mai took to Instagram to say, “I asked God for a life of love and happiness. He sent me my family. Baby Jenkins is here.”
