Reese Witherspoon Settles Divorce With Jim Toth Four Months After Filing

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth have now separated officially. Four months after the “Morning Show” star filed for divorce, the ex-couple signed a marital dissolution agreement on Wednesday, TMZ has reported on obtaining the court documents. 

Reese, 47, and the former CAA agent, 53, have also been able to reach a good custody agreement for their son, Tennessee, 10. It has not yet been divulged as to what it warrants.

The details of the divorce have not been made public, but the couple appears to have signed a prenup before their wedding in March 2011. The “Legally Blonde” actor announced her divorce from Toth after 12 years of marriage. 

In their official joint statement, Reese said, “We have some personal news to share. It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce.” She has said, despite their separation, that they have “enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.”

Within days of this statement, The Sweet Home Alabama star filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences for the reason of separation. Sources have revealed that the ex-pair’s split has been amicable. The romance in their relationship appeared to have fizzled out. 

“There’s no big scandal or drama, just two people who essentially became co-parents and don’t really have any romantic feelings for each other anymore,” an insider has said. 

The Academy Award winner had at one time “liked the fact that [Toth] was just a solid, dependable and stable guy,” but there remained “zero spark” by the time they reached the end of their marriage. 

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar last month, Reese shared, “I think about how many other people are going through this experience, I don’t feel isolated at all. I feel very connected. When I was divorced before, the tabloid media got to tell people how I was feeling or how I was processing, and it felt very out of control. To be able to talk to people directly about what’s going on in my life and just share it in the way that I share great professional experiences or personal experiences, it feels much more authentic to be able to say things in my own voice and not let somebody else control what’s happening.”

Reese shares two kids, daughter Ava, 23, and son Deacon, 19, with Ryan Phillippe. They married in 1999 and separated in 2008.
