Summer TV Guide: Best Shows to Watch this Summer
The summertime can get awfully boring if you have nothing to keep yourself busy with. It’s usually so hot outside that you don’t feel like going anywhere. That means you can only stay at home and keep yourself entertained without going out in the scorching heat.
In that case, staying home and tuning into your favorite TV channels can do the trick. This is the part where you should ensure that your cable TV service offers you everything that you want to watch. For instance, I have found Xfinity TV to be great, since it has every channel that I need.
Even if you don’t like watching TV, you can watch your favorite shows on your preferred streaming services as well!
However, before you get to the watching part, it is important to know about the shows to watch this summer. So, let’s see what the top shows are this year.
Top Summer TV Picks For This Year
2025 is a pretty good year from a TV show standpoint. This isn’t just for summer TV shows, but we’re getting some pretty interesting shows all year round.
For instance, the second season of The Last of Us just dropped, and fans are absolutely hooked on it! There is so much attention to detail that even gamers love the show, despite the polarizing reviews of the game.
However, The Last of Us isn’t the only show that dropped this year, there is a lot more to watch as well.
We’ve already gotten a few shows in the first quarter of the year, and we’re waiting for the next ones to air as well. These shows include the ones that are releasing this summer.
Here’s a list of shows you shouldn’t miss out on.
- The Last of Us
- Love, Death + Robots
- Ginny & Georgia
- Ironheart
- Squid Game
- The Sandman
The Last Of Us (Season 2)
Though I’ve mentioned this earlier, I thought it’s better to talk about it in a bit more detail. While this isn’t technically a summer show, it’s still a promising show for 2025.
This season is definitely no less than a treat for gamers since it picks up right after the events of the first part of the game.
It follows the plot points of The Last of Us Part 2 (game) but with slightly altered details.
I’ll have to say that Pedro Pascal did a phenomenal job as Joel, and honestly, no one could have done it better than him. The show is currently airing with every episode dropping after a week, so make sure you don’t miss out on the episodes!
You can catch the show on Max, so make sure that you have a subscription.
Love. Death + Robots (Season 4)
I remember when Love, Death + Robots was first released, and I was taken aback by how amazing it was.
The art style was brilliant, and the short stories of each episode were as captivating as they could possibly be.
The best part about the show was that every episode was very short in length, with around 23 minutes being the maximum duration of an episode. The shortest episode is around 6 minutes long, so you get the gist of the duration now.
Since there’s no continuation of a set storyline, every episode is going to have a unique story. This makes the show a treat for viewers since the audience has no idea what the next episode is going to be about.
So, for now, what we can do is wait for the show to release.
You can watch the show on Netflix as soon as it releases on May 15th, giving you all the more reason to get a Netflix subscription if you don’t have one already. Here’s a list of the best episodes of Love. Death + Robots so far.
Ginny & Georgia (Season 3)
Ginny and Georgia will pick up right after the events of the second season, in which Georgia was shockingly arrested at her own wedding for murder. This will leave Ginny alone as Georgia tries to navigate through the horrors of prison.
Not only will this hurt Ginny, but the entire family. The show will also revolve around the theme of a family falling out as they try to deal with the legal consequences of Georgia’s arrest.
Plus, the entire situation will take a toll on Ginny, too, who is already dealing with her own social and romantic situations.
You can watch the show on Netflix as soon as it releases on June 5th, so make sure catch up on the story of the duo!
Ironheart
Fans all over the world were devastated after they saw the last of Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.
However, we’re finally getting another version of Iron Man in the form of Ironheart, our very own Riri Williams. The story will take place after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, after Riri returns to the United States.
Known to be a genius, Riri will design her own Tony Stark-level tech to turn herself into Ironheart, which will be like watching Iron Man on our screens all over again. Till then, you can watch Wakanda Forever to catch up on the events that led to the creation of Ironheart.
The show will be available to stream on Disney+ on June 24th, so make sure that you don’t miss out on it!
Squid Game (Season 3)
Hailing from Korea, Squid Game shook the world because of how amazing it was when it was first released.
It had the kind of action and suspense that kept audiences on the edge of their seats. There was a significant break between the first two seasons (a little more than two years long), but it was definitely worth the wait.
However, the show really surprised us when we found out that the next (and final season will come out just a couple of months later! Fans all over the world are stoked to see how the story will continue.
So far, we know that Gi-Hun will continue to try to shut the games down for good, while the Front Man will fight to continue the games and keep the legacy going. I can only hope to see some more suspense in the upcoming season, since they left it on a pretty intense note.
The show is set to release on the 27th of June on Netflix. Till then, you can binge the previous two seasons so that you don’t miss out on any important plot points.
The Sandman (Season 2)
The first season of The Sandman was a pretty interesting one, as it was adapted from the comic book series by Neil Gaiman.
It revolves around the story of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, and how he is captured by a human magus named Roderick Burgess. Morpheus is imprisoned for a century, and all his tools are stripped from him.
After he is released a century later, he works to get his tools back so that he can reform his chaotic kingdom called the Dreaming. There’s not much I can say about the upcoming season, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next for the story to make more sense.
The show will release on Netflix on the 24th of July, so make sure you already know the story so far before you continue.
So, there you have it. These are some of the shows that you can definitely watch to make your summer a lot more exciting. Here’s a more conclusive list of upcoming shows so that you don’t miss out on anything.
Happy streaming!
