While individual acting skills and the transformation of Vivek into an MMA fighter are widely appreciated, the film didn’t live up the hype it created before its release. Ramya Krishnan’s acting skills are also praised widely. But the movie was “formula driven.”
The film is produced by Karan Johar, it also stars Ronit Roy and Ananya Panday. The film is highly promoted in pan India. The director of the film Puri Jagannadh said it has both Tamil and Telugu versions, which were released today. The Hindi version of the film will release on Friday.
The film was surrounded by a lot of controversies with its song ‘Aafat.’ The visuals of the film played during scenes of rape, with the lyrics, “Bhagwan ke liye mujhe chorr do,” sang in a quirky style. In this Cancel Culture, the hashtag #boycottLiger gained a lot of momentum.
Reacting to this controversy, the leading man Vivek Deverakonda, said to ANI, “With Liger, we expected a bit of drama… but we’ll fight. We’ve put our heart into making this film. And I believe that I am correct. I feel that there is no room for fear, when I had nothing , I didn’t fear, and now after having achieved something, I don’t think there needs to be any fear now. Maa ka aashirwaad hai, Logon ka pyaar hai, Bhagwaan haath hai, andar aag hai, Kaun rokenge dekh lenge (With mother’s blessings, people’s love, and God’s suppport, a fire inside us, we will see who will stop us)”
