Sam Asghari Joined And Supported His Friends For The WGA And SAG-AFTRA Strike
Sam Asghari, the soon-to-be ex-husband of Britney Spears, joined his friends on Thursday in Los Angeles to walk for the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. He is a member of SAG-AFTRA and marched in along with a sign by the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank to support the performers, who had not worked since July 13, when the strike began.
TMZ asked Asghri about his wife, and he replied, “We’re not here to talk about my personal life. We’re here to raise awareness on my brothers and sisters working hard and striking for my future. And I hope everything gets resolved very fast and we can all go back to what we love doing the most, which is making art and inspiring people.”
He was dressed in all black and wore a Yankees baseball cap, gave a sassy reply to TMZ saying, “the same amount of jobs as Leonardo DiCaprio,” and referenced how he has also been jobless for a while even after being an Oscar winner himself.
When the negotiations were disclosed between SAG-AFTRA and Motion Picture and Television Producers for improved benefits and better compensation for the members who failed in July, all the performers, including singers as well as stunt workers, also ceased to work.
SAG-AFTRA followed in the footsteps of WGA, the labor union with over 1,000 writers who work for news, online media, television, and film. Asghari further mentioned, “I hope everything gets resolved very fast so we can all go back to what we love doing the most, which is making art and inspiring people and writers are the heart and soul of every project we do. So SAG is strong.”
