‘Let’s Get This Ball Rolling’: Sourav Ganguly Confirms Biopic

It looks like the season of biopics in Bollywood is not coming to an end anytime soon. It all started with Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starring in ‘Shershah’ as a tribute to Kargil’s hero Vikram Batra. Then, we saw Kangna Ranaut starring in ‘Thalaivi,’ a biopic of the late politician, Jayalalithaa. Now, the Bollywood fans will witness another successful biopic directed by Luv Ranjan, and it is none other than Sourav Ganguly’s.

Is Dada’s Life Worthy Of A Biopic?

We won’t blame you if you feel like throwing stones at us just by reading this headline. We know it’s not even a question to ask if Sourav Ganguly’s life is worthy of a biopic or not. Sourav Ganguly is one of the most famous skippers in Indian cricket history. He started playing cricket for India in 1992. He even scored a century in his test debut in Lords against England, and his infamous shirt incident in 2002 is still unforgettable to cricket fans.

Between 2000 and 2005, the Maharaja became the most successful test captain of the Indian cricket team. He finally retired from international cricket after his last match against Australia in 2008.

After his retirement, he continued playing cricket for his state, and he was also the captain for the favorite IPL team ‘Kolkata Knight Riders.’ However, he also left the franchise in 2012 after his third season in the T20 match.

Since then, he has been shooting several endorsements and even anchored in a famous Bengali reality show called ‘Dadagiri.’ He is currently hailing as the BCCI president, so you can imagine how exciting Dada’s life has been all these years, right?

Luv Films On The Journey Of Creating Sourav Ganguly’s Biopic

Luv Ranjan is a comparatively new director in B town, but he has given quite a few hits in his short career. His most famous films include ‘Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety,’ ‘Chalaang,’ ‘Malang,’ etc. The production house is currently also working on a new venture starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

The production house recently announced that they would be producing the biopic of Sourav Ganguly, and they are thrilled to acquire this prestigious responsibility. Their Instagram post said:

“We are honoured to be entrusted with this responsibility and look forward to a great innings.”

Even Dada also gave us a confirmation with a post on his social media. He said:

“Cricket has been everything in my life, it gave confidence and ability to walk forward with my head held high, a journey to be cherished. Thrilled to share Luv Films will produce a biopic on my journey and bring it to life for the big screen”.

What We Think

When Sourav Ganguly captioned this post, ‘Let’s Get This Ball Rolling,’ we understood that there was good news on our way. We heard rumors about Dada’s biopic, but now that we have confirmation from the Maharaja himself, we can’t get enough of it. We hope to get some more details on this project soon, and we will share them with you as soon as we get them.
