Beyoncé Accused Of Ripping Off ‘Renaissance’ Tour Visuals From Japanese Artist
Beyoncé is currently being accused of stealing the artwork of Hajime Sorayama, a Japanese designer.
On Monday, Sorayama took to Instagram to accuse the 42-year-old Grammy winner, but she didn’t ask for any permission before using his futuristic ensembles and sketches as a part of her visuals for the Renaissance tour.
Sorayama captioned the five-photo slideshow with the words, “Yo @beyonce 🤘 You should have asked me ‘officially’ so that I could make much better work for you as like my man @theweeknd ✊,” comparing his artwork with the singer’s performance outfits and graphics.
The very first photo showed the singer’s face on a huge screen on one of the stages she performed.
In the picture, the singer was spotted with an alien-like, chrome headpiece that swooped down on her forehead, featuring pointy cylinders right above her ears. She also decided to accessorize her robotic appearance with silver lip rings.
A critic remarked in the post, “You don’t own the Robot Hyper Femme Genre. Also, the album, artwork, concert, and movie came and went. Why are you speaking about it now.”
Another critic said, “Understand you feel like your art has been imitated and copied by her, but this visual has been out for months (6+ months), so to now have outrage about it. Seems like a reach for something or a grab at something,” making a reference to Beyoncé’s world tour that went on to run between May and October.
