Justin Bieber “Hasn’t Talked” to Scooter Braun In Nearly A Year, Working On New Album Without Him: Insider
Justin Bieber is working on music that does not include Scooter Braun, a first since his debut 16 years ago. People, a popular news outlet, has reported exclusively.
Although sources say that Bieber is “still managed” by Braun, many insiders have told People that the duo have not been in contact for nearly a year. The first time their estrangement came to be known was through Puck News.
The source said, “Justin’s been working on his new record for the last six months. Scooter and SB Projects have not set up one session or done one thing for this [new] record. The relationship with Scooter has run its course.”
Reps for Braun have not responded immediately, nor did reps of Bieber. On Tuesday, sources confirmed Ariana Grande had severed professional ties with Braun after 10 years.
A close source has revealed, “They are friendly but she’s outgrown him and is excited to go in a different direction. Yes there are negotiations happening because of contracts. But this is her choice. It’s time for something new.“
The news followed Demi Lovato’s exodus from Braun’s management 4 years after her sign-on.
Yet, a music industry insider has remarked, “All of Scooter Braun’s clients are under contract and negotiations have been going on for several months as Scooter steps into his larger role as HYBE America CEO. People are spreading rumors based on what they know, but they are off. Scooter’s team at SB Projects are still handling both Justin and Ariana as they work through what this new structure looks like.”
Biber signed on at the age of 13 when Braun discovered him on Youtube. In a 2010 article in the New York Times, Braun (then 28) revealed he tracked down Bieber by reaching out to his school and contacting board members in order to speak to his mom.
When talking about Bieber in an interview in 2012, he said, “We have a very different bond. The common misconception — because I’m 13 years older than him — is that it’s a little brother. It’s more like an uncle or a dad. I kind of realized it being on the road with Justin’s mom. She’s not a disciplinarian, and he needed that person in his life.”
Braun rose to fame with Bieber’s success, getting him on-and-off clients like Carly Rae Jepsen, Kanye West, David Guetta, and Black Eyed Peas.
