Zac Effron Mentioned Friend, Mattew Perry In His Speech After Getting The Star
Zac Efron spared a moment for his “17 Again” co-star and his friend, Matthew Perry, on Monday when he got the star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
He gave a speech during the ceremony, where he said, “I really also want to mention someone that’s not here today, and that’s Matthew Perry, who was so kind and generous with me while we worked on ‘17 Again’ together.”
He mentioned that his collaboration with Perry was “so much fun and it really did propel me and motivate me in so many ways. It really pushed me into the next chapter of my career and for that, thank you so much Matthew. Thinking about you a lot today.” Zac got emotional while he gave the speech mentioning Perry.
Matthew Perry was found dead at his home in Los Angeles in October. He was just 54.
In “17 Again,” Effrom played the younger version of Perry. In the 2009 rom-com, Perry’s character transforms back to a 17-year-old in the thought of rewriting his life. Recently before his death, Perry even mentioned that he wanted to collaborate with Zac again. Athena Crosby, Perry’s close friend, was the course of this information.
Last month, Crosby told Entertainment Tonight, “He said that he wanted to make a movie about his life, and he had worked with Zac Efron in the past on a movie and he said that he wanted Zac Efron to play him as a younger version. He was going to ask him soon to do that.”
Zac Effron told Extra TV back in November that he was honored that Perry wanted to work with him again. He said, “It would be extraordinary to do, and, of course, I’m just really still devastated by the fact he’s gone. We’ll see what happens.”
