American Horror Story Season 11 Cast: The Recurring Characters Who Made It To This Season!

*Spoilers Alert*

Ryan Murphy was able to bring back some familiar faces to a brand-new background for the American Horror Story season 11 cast! The 11th season of the popular horror franchise is set against a NYC backdrop in the 1980s with a focus on the actual LGBTQ+ community while a dangerous serial killer is on the loose.

It is not clear whether the 11th season of the show connects to former installments of the horror franchise. But the NYC setup, accompanied by the jump in time, suggests that there is plenty of room for some overlap in case the franchise had chosen that particular direction.

There are certain notable names sadly missing from the talented cast of the show, including horror franchise staples Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, and Sarah Paulson.

But, in addition to the repeated collaborators of Ryan Murphy and some brand-new AHS actors, the 11th season did broadcast several recurring actors such as Zachary Quinto, Patti LuPone, Leslie Grossman, Denis O’Hare, and Billie Lourd. In fact, Zachary Quinto has not made any appearances in the franchise since the second season.

Before we start watching our favorite Kim K in the latest season of American Horror Story, here’s a guide to the returning actors in the last season of the show.

American Horror Story Season 11 Cast: The Actors Who Returned!

The American Horror Story Season 11 cast is a fine blend of old faces and new ones. But the new ones are not our priority for the moment. Instead, we are going to talk about everyone who made a comeback!

So, without time, let’s get started!

1. Denis O’Hare Plays Henry:

Denis O’Hare Plays Henry

Denis O’Hare is one star who can be seen frequently in the 11th season of the show as a character called Henry Grant. Grant is a mafia hit man and someone who hits the Brownstone Bar regularly.

Recently, we saw O’Hare in the second season of AHS’s spin-off, American Horror Series. The episode is called Dollhouse – in the episode, O’Hare played the father to his own character, Splading from AHS.

O’Hare’s other roles include:

  • ■ Stanley in Freak Show,
  • ■ Larry Harvey in Murder House,
  • ■ William Van Henderson/Dr. Elias Cunningham in Roanoke,
  • ■ Holden Vaughn in Red Tide, and
  • ■ Liz Taylor in Hotel.

The actor is also well-known for his appearances in True Blood, Dallas Buyer’s Club, and Milk.

2. Leslie Grossman Plays Barbara Read:

Leslie Grossman Plays Barbara Read

Leslie Grossman is another popular member of Ryan Murphy’s unofficial acting troupe. Grossman joined the American Horror Story Season 11 cast to portray the role of Barbara Read. Unfortunately, Read is in the middle of a really messy divorce.

Grossman is a recurring actor in the franchise. Her past roles include:

  • ■ Calico/Ursula in Double Feature,
  • ■ Margaret, in 1984,
  • ■ Coco in Apocalypse, and
  • ■ Meadow in Cult.

The actress is also well-known for her appearances in Popular, What I Like About You, 10 Things I Hate About You (series), Victor, and Love.

3. Billie Lourd Plays Hannah:

If you have watched American Horror Story: Red Tide, then you are already aware of Billie Lourd’s small contribution.

Lourd makes a comeback this season as Dr. Hannah Wells, the person responsible for discovering the appearance of the new virus impacting NYC’s queer community. Wells believes that the government has crafted this virus.

Loure is an AHS fan-favorite and has appeared several times in the show! Her past roles include:

  • ■ Montana in 1984,
  • ■ Mallory in Apocalypse, and
  • ■ Winter in Cult.

As Carrie Fisher’s daughter, it is only fitting that Lourd’s most prominent roles are in the sequel movies of Star Wars, where she famously portrayed the role of Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix.

The actress is also well-known for her appearances in Scream Queens (another Ryan Murphy project) and Booksmart.

4. Zachary Quinto Plays Sam:

Since his appearance in the second season of AHS in 2012 as Bloody Face/Dr. Oliver Thredson and Zachary Quinto finally came back to join the American Horror Story season 11 cast. This time, he is not the villain – he is Sam, a party enthusiast heavily suspected of the string of deaths impacting the gays in New York.

Apart from AHS, the actor is best known for playing Sylar in Heroes and Spock in the reboot films of Star Trek. The actor is also known for his appearances in 24, The Boys in the Band, Snowden, and NOS4A2.

5. Sandra Bernhard Plays Fran:

In AHS Season 11, Sandra Bernhard portrays the role of Fran, a recently hired reporter at a newspaper called The Downtown Native, and a lab assistant with vital information about the same virus.

Before her appearance in this season, Bernhard made a brief appearance in AHS Season 8 as Hannah, the leader of the Satanist cult. The actor is also well-known for her career in stand-up comedy, cameos her actual self in different movies and TV shows, as well as her roles in Pose, The King of Comedy, and Roseanne.

6. Isaac Powell Plays Theo Graves:

Isaac Powell portrays the role of Theo Graves, a psychic photographer, in AHS Season 11. Powell is a relatively new entry in the AHS franchise, considering he first appeared only in Season 10 as Troy, the college student who was kidnapped by aliens.

The actor is also well-known for his appearances in Modern Love, Indoor Boys, and Dear Evan Hansen.

7. Rebecca Dayan Plays Alana:

The very last ‘recurring’ entrant to the American Horror Story Season 11 cast is Rebecca Dayan, who portrays the character of Alana. Alana is basically a club’s manager. The club is called The Ditch, and it happens to be a completely mafia-run establishment.

Dayan is gradually becoming a familiar face in the AHS franchise, considering she is part of both AHS and its spin-off.

Her past roles include:

  • ■ Sister Emanuel in Novitiate,
  • ■ Sarah Bernhard in Tesla,
  • ■ Elsa Peretti in Halston (another Ryan Murphy project), and
  • ■ Maria Wycoff in AHS: Death Valley.

And It’s A Wrap!

And it’s a wrap on the recurring faces who became a part of the American Horror Story Season 11 cast. If you haven’t watched the show yet, then do so ASAP – because another season is already here, and you gotta watch that one ASAP.

And then, we can discuss the highs and lows of the latest season – stay tuned!
