Clarkson and her show beat out both information and entertainment shows which included returning nominees like Live With Kelly and Ryan, The Drew Barrymore Show, Today With Hoda and Jenna, as well as first-time nominee The Jennifer Hudson Show to win Daytime Emmy Award for Best daytime talk series host and daytime talk series, respectively. The versatile performer has now bagged seven Daytime Emmys for The Kelly Clarkson Show, which is in its fourth year now.
The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards aired on Friday, December 15, on CBS. The show was originally scheduled to be aired on June 16 but was delayed due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, the show began by paying tribute to General Hospital Star Sonya Eddy, who passed away last December. She was awarded a posthumous Daytime Emmy for best supporting actress.
Along with Eddy, the 2023 Annual Daytime Emmy Awards also honored another General Hospital Star, Tyler Christopher, who passed away in October. ABC’s longest-running soap General Hospital was the biggest winner of the night bagging six Emmys in total. The Soap Opera won Emmys for Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Best Drama Series, Guest Performance, Directing Team for a Drama and Guest Performance.
