Dolly Parton Performs On Thanksgiving In Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading Outfit; Dazzles Crowd
Dolly Parton took center stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, during the Washington Commanders vs Dallas Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day. The country singer donned Dallas Cowboys’ team colors on Thursday and dazzled the crowd with her halftime performance for The Salvation Army’s 2023 Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show.
Parton’s outfit on stage was inspired by the Dallas Cowboys’ Cheerleading Uniform. She wore a low-cut blue crop top, a white vest with blue stars, white shorts with a white belt, and blue stars. She also wore a studded mesh bodysuit in a nude color with a crystal star on her belly button, which made it seem like her midriff was bare. Parton gained a lot of admiration for her looks, with her fans calling her a “national treasure” on social media.
Dolly began her halftime show with one of her most popular songs, ‘Jolene,’ then moved on to another one of her classics, ‘9 to 5.’ She also sang her cover of Queen’s ‘We Are the Champions’ and ‘We Will Rock You.’
Throughout her career spanning 50 years, Dolly Parton has made a name for herself as much for her iconic, over-the-top outfits as her musical chops. In an interview with the Guardian in October, Parton revealed that she drew inspiration from the “town tramp,” for her over-the-top looks on stage.
As told by Parton to the News Outlet, the ‘town tramp’ was a local woman who ‘was flamboyant. She had bright red lipstick, long red fingernails,”
“She had high-heeled shoes, little floating plastic goldfish in the heels of them, short skirts, low-cut tops, and I just thought she was beautiful.” Parton further added.
Parton also disclosed during the interview that her preacher grandfather didn’t like the way she dressed. She used to be “scolded or whipped” by her grandfather for her over the top way of dressing.
