From classic television sitcoms to animated shows, modern dramas, and so much more, these are the best Christmas episodes on television! So, grab a bowl of popcorn, a few beers, and a comfy blanket – because we are here with the best Christmas episodes of all time on television!

The BEST Christmas Episodes Of All Time On Television

Gossipment presents our favorite Christmas episodes on television. Without wasting time, let’s check out these episodes ASAP!

1. Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire: The Simpsons

Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire

The very first episode of The Simpsons is their Christmas special. Yep, this is the very first episode of the show, and what a fabulous beginning. The essence of our favorite American family is beautifully captured in the episode.

While Bart Simpson chooses to get a tattoo, it ends up leading Marge to spend the family’s complete Christmas budget on getting the same removed.

On the other hand, when Homer finds out that Mr.Burns, his boss, is not giving them any Christmas bonus, he starts working as Santa in the mall, trying to make it a good holiday for his children, only to end up losing the cash at a random dog race.

But then, when the owner of a greyhound abandons it after the dog places last in the race, the Simpsons decide to adopt the dog, naming him Santa’s Little Helper. And yes, we cried!

2. A Very Sunny Christmas: It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

A Very Sunny Christmas

We love the It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia gang! There are only very few characters who are relatively more irredeemable than this gang, and even the Christmas spirit cannot really help them.

But it is the show’s characters that make this episode one of our favorite Christmas episodes on television!

From the ineffaceable image of Frank Reynolds hiding inside the couch to find out what his employees are saying about him to Charlie’s unforgettable meeting with Santa in the mall, you will be laughing nonstop!

We don’t think that the biggest Grinch in the world will be able to stop itself from cracking up once they see Reynold’s famous couch scene.

3. The One With the Holiday Armadillo: Friends

The One With the Holiday Armadillo

Friends is one sitcom we have always loved for its collection of Thanksgiving and Christmas specials.

There are too many Christmas specials on this show, but if you have to pick one, then it has to be the one where Ross dresses up as an armadillo to tell his son, Ben, about Hanukkah, a traditional Jewish festival.

From Ross dressing up as the legendary armadillo to Chandler dressing up as Santa and Joey dressing up as Superman, the Hanukkah-Christmas episode is an iconic testament to the show’s timelessness.

4. Christmas Waltz: Mad Men

Christmas Waltz

First things first – we love Mad Men! We love everything about Mad Men – the plot, the characters, the backdrop, and we can go on because we are absolute fans of the show!

Coming back to the Christmas special at hand, if there is anything literally more depressing than being alone, it is spending the holiday with your boss at the bar. Joan precisely does that with her boss, the all-elusive Don Draper, in this broody, melancholic Christmas special.

5. The BoJack Horseman Christmas Special: BoJack Horseman

The BoJack Horseman Christmas Special

Now, this is not really an episode as such. It’s a standalone Christmas special that explores all the sitcom tropes of the 90s. And it doesn’t end here. The show also makes it a point to explore certain heavy topics like mental illness and surveillance.

However, even if the themes of this special seem broody and heavy, the mood is anything but sad, much like all the episodes of the show. BoJack Horseman’s Christmas special is all about elements that are dark, trippy, and absolutely hilarious – everything that you could expect from the show.

6. How Lily Stole Christmas: How I Met Your Mother

How Lily Stole Christmas

A whole chunk of How I Met Your Mother does not really age well – for example, Barney’s opinions on plenty of stuff, like his thoughts on drunk women.

But then this Christmas special called How Lily Stole Christmas is really good! Just think about the absolute worst that you can call any woman. While talking to his kids, Ted simply euphemizes the word with ‘Grinch’ when he starts recalling using that particular slur on his friend Lily on Christmas one year.

7. Christmas Party: The Office

Christmas Party

If Mad Men is our favorite corporate drama, then The Office (both versions) is our favorite corporate comedy. And how can we forget about its Christmas special?

In this Christmas special episode, Michael Scott is in the middle of a debacle involving an iPod, while Jim’s very thoughtful special gift for Pim makes this particular episode a big Christmas favorite! We keep going back to this Christmas episode of the show every single year, and it has never failed to crack us up during the Winter months.
