Cindy Crawford Reminisces Meeting Princess Diana At Kensington Palace After Cameo in “The Crown”
Following her mini cameo in Netflix’s “The Crown,” Supermodel Cindy Crawford remembers her meeting with the late Princess Diana and the teenage Prince of Wales at Kensington Palace in the late 90s.
Season 6, Episode 5 of Netflix’s “The Crown,” name-drops Cindy Crawford. This particular episode contains a scene where Prince Philip, played by Jonathan Pryce, can be seen paying a surprise visit to Prince William in his dorm room at Eton. During the visit, Prince Philip notices the glam shots of supermodels Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell.
“Nothing to be ashamed of! Do they have names?” Pryce, as Prince Philips asks, “In my day, it was Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable and Lana Turner.”
Cindy Crawford shared a short clip of the scene on her instagram, along with reposting an old photo of her with Princess Diana taken at Kensington Palace. She wrote alongside the clip, “I still vividly remember visiting Kensington Palace to meet [Princess] Diana and a teenage William (who had just discovered the ‘Super Models,’)”

In the photo, Princess Diana and Cindy Crawford can be seen smiling while looking at the camera. Both of them are also wearing similar-looking outfits. Crawford, at the time, began her tribute with, “Remembering this inspiring woman today. This photo was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me,”
“My assistant was in shock! We finally connected, and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea — I think Prince William was just starting to notice models and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry,” She further added.
Crawford ended her tribute by saying, “I was nervous and didn’t know what to wear, but remember as soon as she came into the room, and we started talking, it was like talking to a girlfriend. She was a class act and showed us all what a modern day princess should be. Rest In Peace.”
