From Horrifying To Hilarious, Here Are The Best Halloween Episodes Television Has To Offer!

Now that we are here, there’s no point beating around the bush. Without wasting time, let’s get started with the best Halloween episodes on television!

1. Here Comes Treble: The Office (Season 9, Episode 5)

Sure, Halloween happens to be a classic episode of The Office, much like its Thanksgiving episodes. But fans of the show are already aware of how Creed Bratton delivers on point every time.

His closing line in the 9th episode of season 5 (in Here Comes Treble) is absolutely iconic – “it’s Halloween, plus, it’s really really good timing.

2. Halloween: Modern Family (Season 2, Episode 6)

No one legit loves Halloween any more than Claire Dunphy. This 2010 episode of Modern Family, a fan favorite, highlights the rare fun side of the absolutely high-strung matriarch.

Plus, it also managed to win an Emmy for ‘Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.’ Moreover, Jesse Tyler Ferguson was nominated for his comic timing and performance.

3. Halloween: Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Season 1, Episode 6)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in classic sitcom tradition, obviously has a Halloween episode every year. The Halloween heist episode manages to win our hearts every time. But nothing comes close to the original episode for setting the stage.

Detective Jake Peralta, A.K.A. Andy Samberg vowed to steal Captain Ray Holt A.K.A. Andre Braugher’s medal of honor. In his efforts to snatch the medal, he enlists a whole slew of twists and surprises.

4. Treehouse of Horror V: The Simpsons (Season 6, Episode 6)

The Simpsons, of course, took a little inspiration from The Shining in their classic installment of the famous Treehouse of Horror specials. Homer goes nuts and attempts to murder the whole family.

While a majority of Treehouse of Horror episodes come with an overarching theme that connects every vignette within them, the Treehouse of Horror V features standalone stories, although, in each story, Groundskeeper Willi does his very best to come out as a hero to unfortunate results.

5. Spookyfish: South Park (Season 2, Episode 15)

Spookyfish: South Park

The Spookyfish episode of South Park is a favorite through and through – the entirely unexplainable pictures of Barbra Streisand framing all the action for the episode’s entirety. Apart from that, we also dig the bearded Cartman, a portal to Hell, and a murderous goldfish.

6. A River of Candy Corn Runs Through It: Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (Season 2, Episode 7)

Obviously, any show about witches and supernaturals is always going to come with certain festive elements during Halloween. But Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, takes Halloween a little too seriously, which is great! The seventh episode’s title from season 2 references A River Runs Through It.

Fortunately, the title is the only comparison between the episode and the tragic novella as well as the film. This episode features a Halloween party (the protagonist is a teenager – of course, there’s a party) -, talking furniture, friendship drama, a performance by 10K Maniacs, and a river filled with candy corn.

7. Too Old to Trick or Treat, Too Young to Die: That ’70s Show (Too Old to Trick or Treat, Too Young to Die)

If an episode title references a Jethro Tull album, it is going to be great! In this case, the actual title is Too Old To Rock and Roll, Too Young To Die. Kelso, A.K.A. Ashton Kutcher suggests how nice it would be in case everyone in the show’s group of friends were actually in a classic Alfred Hitchcock movie.

The episode goes on to lampoon multiple iconic films of the legendary thriller director. You will find references to Rear Window, Vertigo, The Birds, Psycho, and more throughout.

8. The One With The Halloween Party: F.R.I.E.N.D.S (Season 8, Episode 6)

Yes, there is literally one, so you might reconsider planning a Halloween marathon for Friends. Or you can still have another one but just roll into the Thanksgiving episodes afterward. Monica plans to throw a last-minute Halloween party, insisting everyone turns up in a single costume.

Monica looks incredible as Catwoman, Phoebe looks beautiful as Supergirl, Chandler is ever so pretty in a pink bunny costume, Ross dressed up as Sputnik (or a potato), Joey dresses up like Chandler, and Rachel just wears a regular dress since she is pregnant, and won’t be able to wear it soon.

9. How to Succeed In Bassness: Gossip Girl (Season 3, Episode 7)

Gossip Girl stays true to its theme with their only Halloween episode, maintaining its firm grasp on media manipulation and tabloid culture. In the episode, Chuck fails to get a liquor license even on the opening night of his new pub. But guess what? He goes ahead with the pub opening and then calls the cops on his party, guaranteeing front-page headlines for his club.

Blair explains to Serena later, “When we found out the liquor license was fake, we could with wait for Jack [Bass] to call ABC to take us down, or we could take control and call the police to blow up the party for a night nobody would ever forget. Without your celebrities, we’re buried in the city section. Now we’re front page news.

And It’s A Wrap!

And it’s a wrap on the best Halloween episodes television offers! If you are planning to spend a cozy night with your bae, then why not plan a marathon of all the episodes listed above? Instead of just binge-watching one show, why not binge-watch all the best Halloween episodes on television or streaming platforms, for that matter?

Get a bowl of popcorn, some snacks, and, of course, a bottle of red – it’s Halloween marathon time! Feel free to share your thoughts on the best Halloween episodes that you think are the best ones on television!
